12th Fail is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language biographical drama film directed, produced and written by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It is based on the 2019 eponymous non-fiction book by Anurag Pathak about Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer. The film stars Vikrant Massey as Sharma, alongside Medha Shankr, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar and Priyanshu Chatterjee.

Released theatrically on 27 October 2023, 12th Fail received widespread critical acclaim and emerged as a sleeper hit, grossing over ₹69 crore (US$8.3 million) worldwide on a ₹20 crore (US$2.4 million) budget. At the 69th Filmfare Awards, it won five awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor (Critics) (Massey).


                The wonderful movie "12th Fail" depicts an intriguing tale of the fortitude and resiliency of those who go through ups and downs in life. Manoj Sharma, the main character of the movie, overcomes his failure on the 12th grade exam and goes on to pass the UPSC exam. You find yourself caring about the characters' fates throughout their cinematic adventure since they are all endowed with distinct attributes that provide credibility to their personas. Their journey is a reflection of actual experiences, which helps the illogical audience relate. The movie's soundtrack complements the story effectively, guiding you through its highs and lows and adding to the overall complexity of the piece.

                The film has stunning visuals. Shifts in light and shadow give the story a deeper meaning, and well-crafted situations elicit a range of emotions. The cinematography effectively and visually arrestingly brings the characters' struggles and triumphs to life. Upon closer inspection, the actors' portrayals of their roles are quite accurate. They've all worked really hard to portray their characters in a stunning way. Their performances are real and emote a variety of feelings that the audience may identify with. Their portrayal gives the relationships in the movie a genuine sense, which significantly raises the film's overall impact.


              The film "12th Fail" is a masterpiece of cinema because it has the power to stay with its viewers long after it ends. The film's ideas encourage you to consider your own life and find inspiration in the individuals' stories. It also pushes back against your preconceived notions of success and failure and invites you to take a new perspective on your own achievements.

I rate this film an incredible 4.5 out of 5 since it has a gripping story, intriguing characters, heartfelt music, gorgeous scenery, and outstanding performance.
