Jagath Manuwarna's debut teledrama direction "KODI GAHA YATA" in 2023. The drama was a powerful production, telecasted on local TV channel in ITN but also drawing a significant audience on YouTube, and other social media platforms. In this teledrama, features Jagath Manuwarna as Mahesh, Nadisha Hemamali as Jeevani, Randika Goonathilaka as Piyal, Dilhani Ekanayaka as Shriyani, Tharindi Fernando as Nilanthi who the celebrities in this teledrama are.

Characters 

            Mahesh -:

Perhaps the most nuanced character in the play is Mahesh, played by Jagath Manuwarna. He represents childhood trauma, having been left behind by a mother who left to pursue a better life and father who waited impatiently for Mahesh's success in the hope that it would return his mother to better circumstances.

His custody after being forced to commit a murder raises concerns about his innate criminal nature. Even though his mother really wanted to take him out of that situation, it's unclear if he was born with a tendency towards these behaviors or if his surroundings fostered them. he is by far the most complex and difficult character in the play to comprehend, but he is also unquestionably essential to its overall meaning.

            Jeevani -:

   The portrayal of Jeevani by Nadeesha Hemamali   brings attention to a topic that is rarely   acknowledged in public. In order to marry Mahesh   and adjust to a new way of life, Jeevani left aside a   more comfortable existence. Jeevani and the infant   are left in the care of Mahesh's friend Piyal, a young   tuk-tuk driver played by Randika Goonathilaka,   while he is away. But Jeevani and Piyal end up   having a close friendship as a result of this arrangement. This drama deftly examines the desperate demands for stability and fulfilment of young women left behind by their spouses for a variety of reasons, despite the harsh criticism that society heaps on a married woman who commits adultery. 

        Piyal and his family -:

   The disappointments and worries of a   single mother, played by Dilhani   Ekanayaka, who devoted her life to her   children's survival without looking for   comfort from another man, Randika   Goonathilaka and Dilhani Ekanayaka   both gave outstanding performances that   greatly raised the caliber of drama. Piyal   and his sister add to the conversation about the challenges faced by young people in Sri Lanka. Family dynamics and the struggles faced by this group are delicately portrayed in this work.

        Asela -:

Analyzing Xavier Kanishka's portrayal of Asela reveals another aspect of the nation, the hopeless young people from rural areas who come to Colombo in search of a better life but are instead imprisoned by the harsh realities of the city. The play deftly depicts his character's metamorphosis and emphasizes how the culture he meets is responsible for this development. He unintentionally gets involved in real-life criminal activities, symbolizing aimless adolescents lacking suitable leadership who are thrust into difficult situations in order to survive. Through Asela's persona, the drama highlights how thug culture is created and emphasizes that being a thug is not always innate. 

            Kalu and Shani -:

The story gained vibrancy from Nalin Lusena's particularly stunning depiction of Kalu. The drama broke with the way LGBTQIA+ people are usually portrayed in local production, where their sexuality is ridiculed in humorous ways. As a non-binary person, Kalu embodied a crucial role in the LGBTQIA+ community, addressing the difficulties encountered during one's life path. In one instance, Kalu stepped in to protect her transgender coworker Shani from being harassed by a man who was requesting sexual Favours.

Talk regarding transgender experiences were sparked by transgender actress Reena De Silva's portrayal of Shani. Her outstanding performance, particularly in her nonverbal cues, had a performance effect on the play.
